Acavya

Does Acavya do accounting, and does it export to Tally?

Acavya keeps a double-entry ledger behind every payment, refund, concession, write-off and expense, gives you day, cash and bank books, and exports vouchers and ledgers as Tally XML and a CSV for Zoho Books, to support your accountant and not to replace the books your chartered accountant keeps.

Who is it for, and what hurts today?

  • Accountant: fees in one tool and Tally in another, so every month ends with a mismatch to find. A balanced ledger and an export remove the re-typing.
  • Chartered accountant: you receive a spreadsheet with no audit trail. You get vouchers you can import and a ledger that always balances.
  • Trustee: a trust or society needs a receipts and payments view, not only a profit and loss account. That statement is included.
  • Coaching owner: coaching fees carry GST while school fees are exempt, and a coaching company and a school trust keep different charts of accounts. Templates exist for both.

What can it do?

  • Available now: Every payment, refund, concession, write-off and expense creates balanced journal entries; a property-based test checks that the ledger always balances.
  • Available now: Chart-of-accounts templates for a school trust or society and for a coaching company or firm.
  • Available now: Expenses, vendors and petty cash, plus the day book, cash book and bank book.
  • Available now: Tally export as XML for vouchers and ledgers and a CSV for Zoho Books.
  • Planned: Live push to TallyPrime through a Windows desktop bridge on localhost, so vouchers are created without a file.
  • Available now: Zoho Books API sync (with your own Zoho Books account connected), budget versus actual, trial balance, an income and expenditure statement and a receipts and payments statement for trusts.

How does it work?

Does Acavya do accounting, and does it export to Tally?

  1. Choose a chart of accounts

Pick the school trust or the coaching template and map each fee head to a ledger.

  2. Work as usual

Fee collection, refunds and expenses post their own entries.

  3. Review

Check the day, cash and bank books and the trial balance.

  4. Export

Download the Tally XML or the Zoho CSV for the period and import it.

Does it work in Hindi, offline and on WhatsApp?

  • Ledger names and reports can be shown in Hindi or English.
  • The export is a file, so it works over a slow connection and can be emailed to your CA.
  • Test note: TallyPrime Educational mode accepts voucher dates only on the 1st, 2nd and 31st, so we test imports with those dates or a licensed copy.

What can it not do?

  • This is not a replacement for the books your chartered accountant keeps. It supports the accountant.
  • The Tally import has to be checked against a real CA and a licensed TallyPrime before we call it verified; the golden checks are pending external data.
  • GST filings are not submitted from Acavya; it produces data for the CA.
  • Payroll postings come from the HR and payroll module.

Does Acavya replace Tally?

No. It keeps a ledger from your fee and expense activity and exports to Tally, so your CA keeps working in the tool they know.

Which Tally formats?

Vouchers and ledgers as XML for TallyPrime. A live push through a Windows desktop bridge is planned.

Can I export to Zoho Books?

Yes, as a CSV file, or through the API sync once you connect your own Zoho Books account.

Who owns the accounting data?

You do. You can export everything at any time, including after a trial or if you leave.
