Can the Acavya fee counter keep collecting when the internet or power is down?
Yes, the fee counter keeps collecting cash and cheques without internet by issuing numbers from a block reserved for that device, signing each provisional receipt with a QR code, and blocking day-close until every device has synced.

Who is it for, and what hurts today?
- Owner: if the counter goes down on the first of the month, you are out. That fear is why this page exists.
- Accountant or fee clerk: a power cut at 11 am with a queue of parents, then a hand-written receipt that must be typed in later and a count that does not match at 6 pm.
- School in a Tier-2 or Tier-3 town: an old office PC, a dot-matrix printer on pre-printed stationery and a patchy connection.
- Auditor or trustee: a worry that offline receipts are an opening for fraud, such as a printed provisional receipt and cash in a pocket.
What can it do?
- Available now: Each counter device is registered and given a pre-allocated block of receipt numbers, so two counters can never issue the same number even when neither is online.
- Available now: Provisional receipts carry a QR signed by the device; when the device syncs, they become final receipts in the gapless series.
- Available now: Cash and cheque only while offline. A UPI amount entered offline is recorded as unverified until it is matched to a bank statement or a gateway settlement.
- Available now: Day-close is blocked while any registered device has unsynced receipts, unless the owner approves an audited override with a step-up OTP.
- Available now: Printing on thermal 58 and 80 mm, A5 and A4, and on dot-matrix pre-printed stationery; the browser print path is the fallback.
- Available now: Cash controls: payments of Rs 2 lakh or more in cash are blocked per payer per day, per transaction and per event or course, from the rule pack. A denomination count, variance and a signed daily cash close.
- Available now: Attendance and marks entry also work offline and sync later; see attendance.
- Available now: Android Bluetooth receipt printing in the mobile app.
- Planned: A Windows desktop counter app with silent thermal printing, a barcode scanner and a Tally bridge.
How does it work?
Can the Acavya fee counter keep collecting when the internet or power is down?
Register the device
The owner approves each counter device once and it receives its block of numbers.
Collect offline
The clerk searches the student, takes cash or a cheque and prints a provisional receipt with a signed QR.
Sync
When the connection returns, receipts upload, numbers are confirmed and unverified UPI items go to reconciliation.
Close the day
Count the cash by denomination, resolve unsynced items and sign the close.
Does it work in Hindi, offline and on WhatsApp?
- Receipts can be printed in Hindi or English and sent on WhatsApp once the device is back online.
- The 20-second counter flow (search, collect, print) is a design target that we test; it is not a guarantee for every machine.
- An older Windows 7 office PC can use the PWA in the last browser it supports, with a warning, or an Android device can be the counter.
What can it not do?
- UPI cannot be verified offline, so it stays unverified until matched.
- A lost or stolen device can still hold unsynced provisional receipts. The unsynced-number report and the day-close block exist to surface that, and the owner can revoke a device from the device list.
- We have not yet verified every printer model; confirm your printer model during your demo.
- Offline mode protects collection, not every module: parent payments online need a connection.
Can two counters issue the same receipt number offline?
No. Each device receives its own pre-allocated block of numbers, so a collision is not possible.
What stops a clerk issuing a fake provisional receipt?
Provisional receipts are signed by the device with a QR, numbers belong to a registered device and day-close is blocked until all devices sync. A cancellation needs approval and numbers are never reused.
Which printers work?
Thermal, A5, A4 and dot-matrix on pre-printed stationery are supported. Check your exact model with us during a demo.
Does it work on a 10-year-old PC?
The web counter works in a supported modern browser. Very old Windows 7 machines run the last browser they support with a warning, and we recommend an upgrade or an Android device.
