How fast is Acavya attendance, and does it work offline and with biometric devices?
Acavya attendance defaults everyone to present so a teacher taps only the absentees, works offline and syncs later, sends absence alerts to parents, tracks the 75 percent eligibility rule and takes staff punches from ZKTeco, eSSL and similar biometric devices over the ADMS push protocol.

Who is it for, and what hurts today?
- Class teacher: the same attendance written in the register, an app and an Excel sheet. If attendance is slower than the register you will quietly go back to paper, so the target is 40 students in about 10 seconds.
- Parent: a call at noon asking whether the child came. Absence alerts go out at a time you set, for example 10:00.
- HR or admin: a biometric device with a wrong clock, a missed punch and a manual muster at month end. Punches are ingested idempotently and failed devices fall back to a manual entry with approval.
- Principal and coaching coordinator: a 75 percent list that is built by hand every January and a faculty lecture log that nobody trusts.
What can it do?
- Available now: Daily, period-wise or per-lecture student attendance. Everyone defaults to present, the teacher taps absentees, and late and half-day marks are available.
- Available now: Works offline. Attendance locks after a cut-off, and an edit after the lock needs a reason and an approval.
- Available now: Absence alerts to parents at a set time, sent within about 5 minutes of the cut-off as a design target.
- Available now: 75 percent eligibility tracking with a configurable denominator for mid-year joiners, condonation records with documents and a monthly attendance register PDF in the board format.
- Available now: Staff attendance by app check-in with a geofence and an optional selfie with consent, by biometric devices over the ADMS or iClock push protocol, and by manual entry with approval when a device fails.
- Available now: Leave: a parent applies in the app or on WhatsApp and the class teacher approves; staff leave types, balances and accruals, vacation and non-vacation staff, and loss of pay from late-mark rules.
- Available now: Holidays and closure orders: a district closure for fog, heat or floods can trigger a mass alert, cancel transport and reschedule tests.
- Available now: Coaching lecture log: faculty check in by QR or geofence, or the live class captures it automatically. The delivered, cancelled, combined or substitute status feeds faculty payouts.
- Available now: Opt-in face-recognition attendance with explicit consent, storing templates and not raw images; RFID or QR gate scans; bus boarding attendance; attendance risk flags that go only to the counsellor for human review.

Does it work in Hindi, offline and on WhatsApp?
- Parent alerts go on WhatsApp in Hindi or English and can fall back to SMS for critical alerts.
- Offline is built in: the PWA keeps a shell, saves marks locally and syncs later, with duplicates detected.
- ADMS devices push over HTTP to a dedicated address. Many older devices speak only plain HTTP, so we accept punches only and reject template and user uploads; we never store raw fingerprints or faces.
What can it not do?
- Confirm your biometric device model with us before you rely on it; older SDK-only devices need a Windows desktop bridge, which is planned and not available yet.
- The 75 percent rule and board formats differ by board and state, so check the rule pack for yours.
- Wrong-section marks and devices with wrong clocks are handled by approval and audit, not magic.
- Face recognition is opt-in and needs explicit consent; QR and biometric devices are the default.
Can attendance be taken with no internet?
Yes. The teacher marks on the phone, the record is saved locally and it syncs later without duplicates.
Which biometric devices work?
Devices that use the ADMS or iClock push protocol, such as many ZKTeco and eSSL models. We accept attendance punches only. Confirm your model with us first.
Can teachers change attendance after it locks?
Only with a reason and an approval, and the change is audited.
Does it print the board register?
Yes. The monthly attendance register is produced as a PDF in the board format.
